Educreations Presentation

In my class CI 3750: Integrating Media and Technology Into the Classroom, I worked with a partner, Natasha Athey, to identify an app which we thought would be useful in the classroom. The app we chose was called "Click n' Talk."  This app allows people to create a presentation involving pictures and audio.  Natasha and I used Educreations to create a presentation about "Click n' Talk," explaining how to use the app and describing the ways it could be useful in the classroom.  We shared our Educreations presentation with the other students in the class.

Mathematical Task Analysis Website

In my class CI3030: Investigating Mathematics and Learning, I worked with a few other students to create a website for teachers explaining the mathematical task framework and how it can be used to improve teaching.  The website includes an explanation of what the Mathematical Task Framework is and how it is used to evaluate the cognitive demand of tasks, a list of reasons why tasks which were planned to be High Cognitive Demand (HCD) tasks can end up becoming Low Cognitive Demand (LCD) tasks when they are implemented and how this problem can be avoided, examples of both HCD and LCD tasks, and examples of how a LCD task can be modified to make it a HCD task.

Weather Lesson Website

In my CI2300 class last year, I worked with a couple of other elementary education majors to create a website.  This website is intended to serve as a resource for teachers of either kindergarten or fifth grade, for teaching a lesson about weather.  The website includes a Video page which has a link to a video showing various different weather conditions, a Still Images page which has still images form the video that could be used as visual aides during the lesson, an Activities page with activities which would be suitable for exploring weather on either a kindergarten level or a fifth grade level, a Curricular Connections and Modifications page that explains which standards this lesson is intended to address at each grade level as well as modifications to make this lesson more engaging and accessible for either EC or AIG students, A Custom Search Engine page which has a link to a search engine that students could use to research weather phenomena, a Questions that has a list of questions the teacher can use during the lesson and possible student answers, and a Resources page which has links to other sites related to weather or teaching about weather.
